Hahaha, mine worked ok, they are cheap enough, maybe check for shorts though
Check for shorts between the pads I mentioned in the previous post before soldering.... I think the spacing might be too tight relative to the manufacturing accuracy.... could be sold however with a small knife cut.

I will post a video later!

I need better traces on there! Good spot
Get a small cheep LCD in your project https://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=2312
Wrap it all round a battery https://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2292
Or use a custom PCB to make it really small https://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2512
or make it really really really really tiny!! https://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2919

Hello everyone!

I have been following this thread for a while now and bought the 2.8 spi screen.
So I test fitted the screen inside the gameboy and its pcb is alot bigger then I thought...
My question is can I cut it here? Image

Then de solder the ribbon and flip the pcb and re solder it back on it so the pins come out on the back in the middle.
Correct me if I'm wrong tho... I'm a complete noob with this kind of stuff.
Great thread btw :D

Thanks in advance!

You should be able to do that. Just double check the traces on the board before you cut. Any trace that's connected between the ribbon and the pins needs to remain.

Also make sure you keep pin 1 in the same place, and take it steady with the solder

Didnt work :(
I think i destroyed the ribbon...
First time i tryed the backlight would stay on.
After desoldering it allot of times the lead on the ribbon burned away :?
Im going to try and revive it later on my build.
Also ordering the small pcb from oshpark and a new spi screen from AliExpress.
Anyway i did learned allot about soldering this way and after a few burned fingers to avoid the tip
