The transparent blue bracket was PLA printed on a Makerbot Replicator 2. Not sure the brand of the filament though. Had a friend print it for me and I just picked it up.abrugsch wrote:that's really nice! good match on the case to the bracket colour. what's the specific of the bracket material? PLA/ABS or from where?

Re: HoolyHoo's AIO bracket for Kite's SAIO Board
I have printed out a few of these and they work great.
I didn't use heat too get the screw threads in, I used a 3mm drill bit, drilled a centered hole, placed the threaded bit in place with a screw inserted part way and then hit it a few times with a hammer. It worked well and the outer thread bites into the plastic well so there is 100% no movement.

Re: HoolyHoo's AIO bracket for Kite's SAIO Board
I had a question on the screw inserts. Is it possible to get these working with the original case screws? I can't seem to find what size the original screws are but it would be great if we could make the bracket work with them.
Re: HoolyHoo's AIO bracket for Kite's SAIO Board
If you decide to use the brass inserts then m2 screws are needed. Original case screws will not work. You don't need the inserts really unless you plan on opening your case multiple times. If you just use the original screws that came with your case they will work with the bracket as they are made for threading into plastic. They will be tight the first time you screw them. It was designed this way to give it strength. I would screw them in first before installing bracket to make the first threads needed in the plastic.valinhorn wrote:I had a question on the screw inserts. I used the original screws and they worked the first time, but I had to re-open my case and now they aren't grabbing so I was hoping I could add in the inserts but keep using the same screws. I will figure something out.HoolyHoo wrote:If you decide to use the brass inserts then m2 screws are needed. Original case screws will not work.
