The width of the screen is slightly wider than what the gameboy case could accommodate, it has roughly the same dimensions as a pi2/pi3 board so you will have to take some material of the case to make it fit.
I think the price online is quite high...

Can't read what type of voltage regulator is used (in the red circle). Have you tried running it at 5v?hi all, i have a new screen:

Just connect it (with the attached wires) to 5v and feed a composite display signal (otherwise the screen does not turn on, could be a video/photo camera, or a raspberry ).

According to the datasheet this regulator has an operating range from 4.75 up to 27 volt, so it should work on 5 volts without any modifications.

I don't know what kind of psu (adafruit/bangood) you will be using but as long as it can provide enough juice (so no voltage drop when under load, say below the needed minimum of 4.75) all should be fine.
Just feed it 5v (on the wires not the chip ) and a composite signal to see if it works.

If supplying 5v does not work, you should suply it to pin 3 (see screenshot) i believe this is the regulators 5v output.
Please mind the little dot on the chip to get the correct pin.
Maybe can someone confirm my interpretation of the datasheet is correct!
Brigghius, if you have a voltmeter you can measure if (when supplying the standard 12v) that this pin delivers 5v.

Board found in the screen wiki (variant 7), but this one works at 5v without any modifications (even as low as 4,5v).
It looks like they have changed the voltage regulator to XL1509 datasheet: https://files.acrobat.com/a/preview/d9f ... a2f9aa70b
You could still remove it to make it more power efficient (regulator is 82% at 5v), and feed it system 5v through pin 2 on the chip but imho this is not worth the effort.

One quick adition,
The screen is held by one little clamp, so removal is extremely easy!
No glue, no prying with screwdrivers, just remove one screw an it pops right out!

Maybe the first rule in the screen wiki should be to "try to run a screen on 5v"
And if that doesn't work, mod it.

Just got this board from EPATHDEALS through amazon. Runs fine on 5v, but I get this weird flicker at the top. I want to do a 5v mod, but none of the boards look exactly like this one on the wiki. Any help would be great! Thank!

Alright I am just getting started. I built a NES PC about a decade ago and I have not done a project since. Life happens.
So I am looking into the video and I noticed the following item and I am curious if anyone else has looked into it.
Up front I am concerned about dimensions, but for less than 20 I may just buy one and see where I stand.

I started looking into this after seeing a similar incomplete(but working) concept on Adafruits site. Agreeable I have not looked into the power situation or anything the like. Up front if the dimensions work out, and this does indeed allow me to reduce the number of cars; then I will work out the power concerns.
Let me know what you think all positive and negative(those that allow forward thinking) feedback would be appreciated.
