Nintendo 3ds heapdhone socket

Post by winnetouch » Sat Dec 02, 2017 6:46 am

Hy guys. A couple of days ago I was able to snag an old boxed 3ds + skylanders in box for 30 buks. The system is a bit worn and it shows it was owned by a kid, especially because there's something stuck in the headphone socket and I am not able to remove it. So I said screw this, I'm just gonna replace it. BUT, I have no clue where to get the correct socket. The ones used on the AIO boards are different (I have a pack of those).

Does anyone know if the 3ds and 3ds XL use the same socket? Because I can find tons of those on ebay but none for the original 3ds.

A mod should replace this post into other projects / general project chat :?

Winnetouch, why did you post this to a lounge topic

Because it's not a project. I'm not planning on modding it. I was just after some info on parts. Isn't that what the lounge is for? Stuff that doesn't belong anywhere else?

If you open the shell, you might be able to use a straight pin through the back to push the blockage out.

I found those links too but the shipping is ridiculous for a simple audio socket. I did open it up but the back of the socket is closed of at the back.

I wonder if you could drill a hole in the middle of that copper plate on the back, so you can poke a pin in there.

Alternatively, now that you know what the socket looks like, you can trawl through Aliexpress or eBay for something similar.

Nevermind :).

After an hour of scraping I managed to get the dang thing unstuck. This little sucker was the culprit. A small magnetic ball barring. Excuse my ugly ass fingers  .
