Forum suggestion: Anti-spam measures

Post by crispy_tofu » Mon May 16, 2016 6:09 am

Hi,
There's been a few spam threads over the last day or so, and I think it might be wise to implement some kind of anti-spam measures for new users such as captchas or approving the first post for these users. The former would probably be easier to implement, but the latter would obviously be more accurate, although it would increase the moderator workload by quite a bit.

Just a suggestion to keep these forums as shiny as they are now. Thanks to @wermy, @Popcorn and @1461748123 for making the forums what they are today, and facilitating its growth for the future. :)

Oh, this is offtopic, but could a mod please fix the blurb for the 'Software' section in the board index? I know it's nitpicking, but it really should be 'specific' - making the forum a little more presentable.
Thanks again! :D

Alright, new users now have to have their first 3 posts reviewed/approved before they become a regular user.

Thanks for the quick response on this. In case you missed it, I also sent you a PM on this topic yesterday with some additional suggestions, but I think the 3 post change should work well.

P.S. Lucky for me this is post number 4! ;)

Yep, thanks for that. :) Initially I had only seen a couple random ones advertising various things, which were easy enough to remove so I didn't think it was too big a deal. People posting porn, though, definitely changes my mind on that haha.
