Button Well Fix?

Post by Lphillimore » Tue Mar 28, 2017 10:53 am

So i managed to accidentally dremmel off a little bit of the left upper screw well in the back part of the shell whilst making room for the micro USB charge port.

When i then screwed the case closed the upper left screw now over-screws and screws past the socket and out the other side, so in effect not closing the case.

Imagine the screw nicely screwed into the 3D printed screen mount but not atached to the other part of the case. See naff picture below:

Any ideas on fix? Thinking maybe a longer screw with a wider head would allow for the screw to reach and screw into the 3D print and the wider head would grip the back of the case via the screw channel?

Oh, and NEVER NEVER NEVER take a longer screw, or you are scr....

And, if i would repair that, i would have taken a very little metal ring put ontop of the plastic ''pipe'' and clay around it completely with 2k aluminium or steel epoxy and just poke a little hole in the middle of the ring, so the screw can go thru, now it should look like original too.

Good luck, sometimes all is good sometimes bad.

Thanks man.

Think I'll go for using epoxy on the damaged pipe and fix a metal plate / washer on the end. Once solid the screw should then catch it and pull the top down nicely.

Will report back. Frustrating

This is now FIXED

Used epoxy and a washer over the damaged pipe on the top part of the case.

Reglued the 3D printed screen button well and all working nicely!
