1up DIY Kit manual

Post by sggeek » Thu Sep 07, 2017 4:49 am

Hey everyone! haven't been here for a bit , but I've translated the 1up guide for you guys. If anyone needs it, knock yourselves out.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/65u2s81p7be33 ... 7.pdf?dl=0

I also help makers / modders get the kit from taobao in china and ship it to whichever country you are. I wanted to post here, but after my post on retropie handheld facebook page, the few kits I got all sold out. So if anyone is interested for the next shipment, let me know eh. Email sggeekinfo@gmail.com and i'll keep you posted for the next shipment.

This is my youtube channel if you guys also have problems fixing the 1up kit up. I'm by no means an expert, but I think we can really perfect this if everyone has some input. Like from the tape to use, how to drill etc. On my final video,

There are some links to really great stl files by the community on Retropie handhelds for drill holes. Please check it out guys.

Ah true, true, that is an older version of the PDF I wrote. This one is my latest. Anw if you check the first page you'll see "translated by SgGeek" It will answer some questions in case some of you guys get the slightly newer Audio amplifier board (green in color instead of red) from 1up.

With the red board, u need to like scratch off the paint off the PCB and do some weird soldering. The pdf will help answer how to do the connections.

Thanks for this will take a look when I'm home, nearly completed my build but would like to go through your slightly updated guide to be sure it's all good.

Hey, Besides this copy I'm thinking we should have a community copy where everyone posts like... an image or some instruction they'd like to add. We could call it a sudomod's 1up guide. Anw if there's anything you'd like to add or correct a mistake please let me know.

Ok, I have already watched your vids, have been helpful. I have been on and off building it but I will take a look to see if I have struggled with anything that may need to be a bit clearer.
But to be fair the pics are good, your translation helps a lot. Not looked into the sofware side yet but as said will make a list of anything I can think of.
Thanks

i think the guide is good, a few things i have left so far as i need to do more reading is:
L+R buttons, they look like they need a bit of modding to get correct angles, also the guide does not really clearly show attaching them to the board, its only further on i noticed a bit of a picture that shows the pins go into the board "a bit", not pushed all the way down. i would imagine there is a certain height they should be but i need to wait for my case before i can test before soldering.
at the bottom of the guide it shows a pic of the battery bay and says "can be modded to accomodate aa lithium batteries that supplies 4.2v, both types of batteries can charge at the same time... pcb has the capability, gamers can think about how to achieve this"
it would be nice if we could work out/get info from original bulder to be able to do this?
finally the guide on setting up recalbox seems to be a bit "all over the place" one section shows how to set up hdmi sound and gpio controls, then the next section also shows but in a different way? i am yet to try this yet but will try and have a go of setting up over this weekend.

One thing that baffles me:

The batteries in the guide are labeled as 3.2V, and the Voltage regulator board takes 13V in (4 batteries x 3.2V = 12.8V ~ 13V)...

So far, so good. But common AA batteries (in europe at least) have 1.5V..... So I skipped it in my last build an planning to skip it in my current one as well. Or am I missing something here?
I used to be an adventurer like you, but then I took an arrow in the knee :-O
