Checking Battery Voltage Seen by RPi? Using HoolyHoo Script

After finishing my build a couple months ago, I noticed that my battery monitor icon never seems to change from full, even when I let the battery totally run down. On the test bench, everything worked great, but I was grounding out the test pin on the Arduino. When I did that, the screen went right ...

alsamixer - A Tip for Volume Control

This might be somewhere in the wiki or elsewhere on this forum, but I missed it when doing my first GBZ build. When using a USB audio card for sound, using the command "alsamixer" (without quotes) lets you set the volume coming from the pi. I'm retrofitting a personal DVD player with a Pi zero and t...

Re: Build done, but random reboots and screen freezes

Makes sense. I've gone back through the wiring, made sure everything was insulated with either a dab of glue or separated with electrical tape. Ran the GBZ for ten minutes or so with no issues yet. Will have to run a longer trial period when time permits. Fingers crossed!

Re: Build done, but random reboots and screen freezes

I wondered about the power, but wouldn't the battery provide a large enough storage for current? I'm pulling from memory but isn't the banggood supply good for 1A? Can a Pi pull more than that? I'm getting reboots just testing basic games like Zelda on NES.

Build done, but random reboots and screen freezes

I'm hoping someone here could help point me in the right direction for investigating an operating problem with my GBZ. It will boot up fine and operate great, then will randomly reboot. I also get the occasional screen freeze, sometimes in the middle of the game or initiating the shutdown procedure....

Re: New Screen Variation

Here is a picture to help. I don't think you need to remove the chip. I was having some issues that I believe ended up being improper grounding, but had removed the chip by then.

Re: My Safe Shutdown Solution - Pololu and Logic Chip

I used the slide version, but I believe the tactile button can work as well. The slider stays in the OFF position, then when you send 5v to the ON pin, the Pololu turns on the attached components. When voltage removed, it turns the components off. Great ideas on the caps. I used what I had on hand, ...

Re: Arduino Leonardo pro micro

Glad you figured it out! I had also uncommented those lines to test the output, but remembered to put the hash marks back in before using the battery monitor script. However, plenty of times I have done something similar in another Arduino programs. These darn little computers just take everything s...

Re: Arduino Leonardo pro micro

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the files? I installed mine using the manual option for no good reason other than i wanted to see what each step did. It worked the first time. Maybe you missed a step? Do you have any necessary libraries installed? I know this isn't he beat answer, it i ...

Here is a link to the writeup I just finished on the shutdown switch. I've also changed the original post to include this:
