Re: Headphones Work, Speaker Squeals

Huzzah!!! It worked! Piggybacking wires onto the headphone jack points did the job! I went into this project with less practice that I should've, but now I'm so much more confident in my soldering skills and am definitely ready to take on another project. Thanks for all your support and patience thr...

Re: Headphones Work, Speaker Squeals

I'm stumped! Thanks for your patience with me on this so far...So I tried soldering on to the points outlined above on the headphone jack area and still get a ringing. This is what I have tried so far: - headphones only = sound - speaker only = squeal (with multiple speakers) - headphones & speaker ...

use this here for the alternate points for the speaker from the headphone socket.
Thanks! Is it possible to have the alternate points as well as the headphone socket soldered in?

Re: Headphones Work, Speaker Squeals

Check the signal from the board with the speaker wires connected to an osiclloscope i.e remove the speaker and connect the wires to an oscilloscope. Then you play a sine wave from the raspberry pi and it should show up on the scope. You can do a visual inspection of the signal and then do a FFT on ...

Re: Headphones Work, Speaker Squeals

That is way too much wire for the speaker itself and way too much exposed wire on the speaker side. You basically only want enough wire exposed to cover the pad. Thanks for the quick response! I just roughly wired it up like this for the purposes of testing before I reassemble. The does the amount ...

Headphones Work, Speaker Squeals

Hello! Part two continuing the story from this thread: https://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=7961 I've checked every spot for continuity as per the diagram and everything is beeping. When speaker is unattached, the sound works fine through the headphones. But when I solder the speaker o...

Re: Headphone Jack Squeal and Melted Solder Point

Speaker is easy to fix. You just need to scrape back the trace a little bit and solder directly to the trace. I have done it a couple of times but did not think to take a picture of it. But I would try to also redo the speaker wires so the only exposed wire is over the pads. The wire could short ou...

Re: Headphone Jack Squeal and Melted Solder Point

Also the 5v also outlined needs to have continuity or the audio will not work either be sure to check that these RED points have continuity. Ok so I just reflowed(?) a bunch of my soldering and double checked the continuity on everything. Everything beeped so far and the headphone jack seems to wor...

Re: Headphone Jack Squeal and Melted Solder Point

Sorry about that! This is my first time soldering (if it wasn't obvious already) and I did the best I could practicing and watching tutorials online. The sound never worked for me. I just kept pressing on after testing out the sound the first time and it not working. The pad melted off when I tried ...

Headphone Jack Squeal and Melted Solder Point

Hi There! Put my Mintypi together, got games and buttons running and everything. Only thing is, I may have damaged the solder point for my speakers on the board. When I soldered the speaker wire onto the board, I think I melted the soldering point. As in there's no more metal pad there to solder to....
