Seems to be a power problem to me. When powered from output of the pi, it goes crazy like that. When powered by my powerboost, everything is OK.

I have the same board! I got it working by putting 5v to the input of the 3.3 regulator, see pic: http://i.imgur.com/SV6Shw4.jpg However the quality is .... less than I had expected. Text is virtually unreadable, and the colors don't look as good as other people's results. Might not be the right way...

No-go on the native 5V, had to place a jumper to the 3.3 regulator's input. See pic:

Got my display in today, from this amazon US listing. Doesn't look like any of the different BW versions listed on the Wiki. Havn't tried feeding it 5v yet to see what it does.
