Framebuffer_width= Framebuffer_height= Sets the resolution of the screen. I guess what you are looking for is overscan (to get the picture smaller/bigger towards the edge of the display) overscan_left= overscan_right= overscan_top= overscan_bottom= Also be sure that you put it in /boot/config.txt

I would think having two step up converters in a series will introduce even more distortion that perhaps may give the screen weird artifacts.

Flux is your best friend, smear that thing on. I have never used flux before, just flux cored solder. I guess I'll order some. Do you put it everywhere apart from the leg of the chip?
