Well I've decided to try and attempt to make this by hand out of some heavy cardboard I found. Edit - so its workable but due to the problems with making it with cardboard the spacer isn't very accurate nor can i keep it closed with screws. That's correct, the screws should line up and give you much more internal space. In addition the 10mm height of the spacer could theoretically be increased to any size.
