Re: DAC sound card or nothing?

i'm not actually certain.... its trying to find your card, but card (you've assigned it wrong) but try this..... pcm.!default { type hw card 1 } ctl.!default { type hw card 1 } Progress! I now get sound, but it was weird. First I turned it up a bit (before trying, bad idea I know) and it was really ...

Re: DAC sound card or nothing?

have you set the volume.... http://sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=4601#p49953 also have you selected the usb advice as the main audio output... Opening that menu item I am confronted with this... 20171126_131406.jpg I then get to the picker with Auto, Headphones, HDMI and mixer options. Pic...

Re: DAC sound card or nothing?

I already have some PAM8403's or whatever because I intended to use GPIO sound. The sound was so distorted and had so much interference (even after making a filter) that I decided to just bite the bullet and do the USB hub and sound card. I know emulation won't give perfect sound, but it's worth th...

Re: shesaysidontlisten GBZ First Build Log [WIP]

Ordered a sound card and USB hub even though I really didn't want to. The sound was so bad and I was frankly frustrated working on it. Life's too short! Spent some time working on the L and R buttons. The wells are shallower due to the back of the case being so much thicker. This makes the throw sho...

Re: DAC sound card or nothing?

Wonderful! I'm gonna get one then. Do I still need an amp if I use it? you might be able to get away without using an amp..... the sound card is obviously powerful enough for sound out of the headphones, and i think if you use one of the common speakers used in most builds you might not need a amp....

Re: DAC sound card or nothing?

I'm looking at sound card options and I'm wondering if only DAC USB boards work. I was looking at this one: Sabrent USB External Stereo Sound Adapter for Windows and Mac. Plug and play No drivers Needed. (AU-MMSA) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IRVQ0F8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_erveAbXSFT7CN I found this pa...

Re: shesaysidontlisten GBZ First Build Log [WIP]

Testing audio now. Wired everything together and it's crackly, even after the low pass filter was added. Trying to figure out if this would be solved by going the USB hub to sound card route... And let me also say I hate soldering the pins on the volume wheel so frickin much. It is the worst part of...

Re: Smoke coming from potentiometer? Uh oh. [Solved]

You can adjust the sound in emulation station too. On the retro pi menu there is volume adjust option I believe. As for the volume pot...they seem to cause some static and don't always work great. If it's bad enough you can get rid of the pot completely. And use volume controls via hotkeys. If you ...

Re: Smoke coming from potentiometer? Uh oh.

Yeah. You can try it. But if it was smoking....might be toast. Also for the pot when looking down at it. With the black wheel on top, use this diagram. Ground is the left pin http://cdn.instructables.com/F6K/QVPA/GAPUS878/F6KQVPAGAPUS878.LARGE.jpg Moved over to the correct pins (and a new potentiom...
