Re: questions about the mintyPi v3
You can use the old batteries if you wanted to really but that is what 1200mAh and mine are 2200mAh so a big difference in play time. The new version uses cell phone batteries with 4 pins on them and some other batteries could be used besides mine but you might have to add something to the back of ...

Re: questions about the mintyPi v3
I have a v1 (still unbuilt) mintypi which I sourced a while back, but rather than start that project I may now wait for the v3 because this new model looks pretty mint (excuse the pun!). I was considering selling the v1 to part fund, but wondering if I should hang on to any of the parts in case the...

Re: Old screen to new board
With all due respect I have said I am a novice. So these things perhaps aren’t as obvious to me as they are to you. I didn’t realise that the screen and the pin out were the same. I think it’s safe to say that i’ve accepted that the ribbon can’t be used, my initial question was whether one could be ...

Re: Old screen to new board
Brilliant thanks for your help.
Out of curiousity what type of screen would be needed to attach to the new board. Clearly a 10pin one, but are there other specifics, or maybe there is another post about this?

Re: Old screen to new board
Apologies. I guess it’s just not clear to a novice like me. I will stick with the wires if this is the only way. As mentioned it’s not a problem, I’d have just preferred a ribbon to make it look neater! As the designer of the boards, perhaps you could clarify one final thing? I note the lcd has a ‘V...

Re: Old screen to new board
Hey. You mentioned in our conversation that the new boards can be used with the v1 lcd if a wire install is done. I understand that one is 10 pin and the other is 8, but perhaps it’s my lack of knowledge that has confused the matter - if a wire install can be done, then why can a ribbon not be used?...

Old screen to new board
Hey. So I finally started on my mintypi (version 1 type - red helders board), and totally ruined the pcb - lifted pads and bad soldering, all my own fault! So I’ve gone back to the drawing board and got my hands on some practice boards as well as the version 2 of helders board (blue). However the ne...
