Yeah, I was thinking flex might be the way to go but you'd need more support from the case.
If/when I get around to this, if you haven't, I might have a go at the case myself.

I think there might be some scope for slimming down from having a thinner PCB and not 3D printing all Of the back but just a frame and having a thin piece of plastic cut for the back.
