Re: Smoscar's GEM Build + DC Controller

I am finally done putting together the controller with a memory card battery like wermy did in his video. Since I am overclocking the GEM to get better frame rates, I added a mini cooling fan that's pointing straight to its battery: https://ezway-imagestore.s3.amazonaws.com/files/2019/04/95423588915...

How comfortable are the L/R buttons there?

Re: Smoscar's GEM Build

Very nice! :D You could also have like a power bank or something inside it and it will charge when docked :) How did you achieve the screen rotation? Just editing the config.txt? Yep, just some sed magic to toggle the display rotate and then reboot the system. The USB connector is an OTG, so you ca...

Re: Smoscar's GEM Build

I finally finished my Dreamcast controller. Mostly by following wermy's videos and some other resources I found online. I even added a Controller Mode to the Retropie menu to rotate the screen (figured I already had too many scripts running when booting it up). It uses a small micro USB cable that y...

Re: What did you glue your battery doors on with?

I have some tape holding them in place. Was worried about how warm they could get.

Now when it gets really warm I just remove it and blow some air on it. Was thinking about putting some adhesive velcro but it gets really bulky.

Re: Can I remove extra Pi connectors after soldering to Circuit Gem?

Don't try to desolder them while on the GEM, you need a heat gun to do so and that might mess up some other components. Cutting them off with a new pair of pliers (or a really sharp pair) and then desoldering the remaining parts with a soldering iron could be an option though. Edit: By the way, unle...

Dreamcast controller

Has anyone successfully made a controller that works with the VMU/GEM?

Just ruined my first controller by overheating the chip pins (controller might have been too old) and I was wondering if anyone had successfully done it.

Re: Gem L/R Button issue

I have the same problem on my build, and I noticed there's continuity between the R and Ground test pads when pressing the button.

Not sure if I did something wrong.

Re: Smoscar's GEM Build

Nice work! Did you reuse a case you used for satris board? I noticed the cutouts on the sides Good eye!, it is indeed a reused case :D I tried to do the VMU without any custom PCBs a while ago, just like how wermy did it, but I was never able to fully close it. So I already had back part of the cas...
