This is the wrong topic to post this question and there are alternate pins on the camera connector, I bet they are talking about those but not easy to solder to those pins.

If you can get one those security devices used in DVD cases they have some super thin metal sheets. Put some solder on the 2 GPIO that are bridged so you can heat them both up at the same time then slide these thin metal strips between the pi and the controller pcb to see if you can break any connec...

Are you using some dedicated USB-C charger like one from the Switch or a newer phone? if you are which I'm sure you are then you need to use a 5v only charger and not a usb-c charger that can do higher voltages.

Only 2 pins are unused and if you follow the test point picture you could have figured out how many. Even if only 1 GND pin for example is shown on the test point image it's a good idea to solder them all so you have a better chance of GND being solid.

Could be that some of the pinout on the ribbon changed, ask the sellers for a datasheet and compare to the ones that are good.
