Would there be much Wi-Fi Drain?

Got all the stuff needed to make my Gameboy Zero. Will try to do a big push this weekend to finish it. One thing I keep going back and forth on is Wi-Fi. If I hard-wire wifi into it, does it cause any significant drain when not in use? My thought was to just leave it out because once I set up the GB...

Re: Easier to solder common ground pcb?

I just got mine in the mail and I'm sad to say I'm also struggling to solder the tiny ribbon wires. Here's what worked for me. Look up how to tin a stranded cable first if you've never done that before. Some things I learned were to strip the wire and try not to twist the cable so that the strands ...

Re: [For Sale] GBZ All In One PCB (Pre Orders #3) Board version 2.0

Man, keep getting super excited about this project. So how much space will this new board save? Is that a power strip in the lower right for all the power to connect to? I know this may be a little antsy of me, but with this board, what else will we need to finish out the build? Board-wise. Buttons,...

Re: Easier to solder common ground pcb?

So I've figured out how to solder my PCB. All it takes is extreme patients. :) I went back to my original plan and tinned the rainbow cable. I had to be precise and quick about it because the coating melts in no time flat. I had been used to working on pinball machines where you need to work with bi...

Re: Easier to solder common ground pcb?

I found out the hard way :-) I now have 2 reels of thin flexible wires that I can work with and 1 reel that a bit thicker for power. Are they solid core wires? The more flexible ones? If so, where'd you get them. I'd hate to order online, only to find out its pretty much exactly what I already have...

Re: Easier to solder common ground pcb?

I came here to see if anyone else was having problems. I have the KITSCH-BENT one, and what I thought was going to be a 20 minute project ended up being me removing all solder and calling it a day after an hour and half. I thought I was a pretty decent solderer. That was until I tried to connect wir...

Re: [For Sale] GBZ All In One PCB (Pre Orders #3) Board version 2.0

Holy hell that's awesome! Was going to just build one with the parts I have now, but since I love building things, I placed an order for one of these just to make a second Gameboy Zero that's cleaner on the inside. First one will be a trial.

Re: [For Sale] Gorilla Glass Screen

What would be the best way to mount this to the gameboy? I feel like Super Glue would hold under light conditions but eventually pop off.

Kudos for doing this on your own, and not relying on something like Kickstarter. I think people think that's the only way things can get done these days.
