Re: Cannikin's GBZ

About how long does the battery last? I did a test today: turned everything on, went into Super Mario World and just let the attract screen run with the sound up to a normal level. After about an hour I switched to Revenge of Shinobi on the Genesis and did the same thing. I got to two hours before ...

It does! I'd like to add my screen and the joystick buttons to the diagram before calling it "final" though.

See my wiring diagram for how I wired up the socket and power boost.

Re: Full VGA resolution (640x480) 3.5" display, composite in

Do you mind showing us how youth connected your screen? Did you have to convert it to run off 5v? Yep, mine runs off of 5V just fine. It has 5V and GND connections on the controller board so I just wired one each of the 5V and ground GPIO pins on the Pi to those, and then the composite signal from ...

Re: Cannikin's GBZ

Nice idea with those hooks, especially with the limited space that screen affords. Speaking of which, can the overscan be adjusted or is what you see what you get? Yep, I'm using an overscan of 8 for top and bottom and that lines up all the emulators perfectly for me (top to bottom). There's 1/8" o...

Re: Cannikin's GBZ

And how were you able to scratch off the border so cleanly? Looks great! Ditto, I had the same idea and have just received the glass screens.. How did you scratch it off? Any tips? So I made a tiny little jig that held the tip of my Xacto knife about 3/16" from the edge. I ran that all around the g...

I haven't done a full battery test yet, I'll try and do one next week when I can just leave it running for a while and watch for when the Low Voltage LED comes on.

Re: Cannikin's GBZ

Here's that hook mechanism I put together: http://i.imgur.com/VUiugk5.jpg http://i.imgur.com/cvXPIpY.jpg So there's a little square glued onto the front half that fits in the notch on the back half. It's better to make it NOT fit at first, then trim one side or the other so it has a nice tight fit.

Re: Cannikin's GBZ

Awesome news! I spoke with the owner at Nintendo repair hut, and he said since there is a demand for Gameboy zero mod accessories, he will look into making a glass screen with a border to fit the Gameboy zero. Cool stuff! That would be AMAZING! It's definitely a bit of work to get the lines nice an...
