I see flux residue all around the pi GPIO. Get some soft brush like an old tooth brush and soak it in alcohol and clean it off and try to get it in between the pi and pcb. Might have to use some compressed air to get the alcohol in between the boards then let it dry out and see if it changes anythin...

Yea power the device with the powerboard and battery, when you power it through the usb port on the Pi itself like you are doing it will not shutdown until you unplug it.

Bad GND or 3.3.V joint, quite often it's the GND joint. I suggest you redo the GND points and there are a few so do a few of them, look below for them.

I already explained this on Discord, there are multiple GND pins that are linked and have continuity which is be design. I know you're looking for something to blame the likely bad solder joints or bridging you had so it's not your fault but all of these boards have 0 bridged joints unless they are ...

Did any of you use Flux when assembling the Pi to the controller PCB? and post a picture of the Pi and controller soldered so I can get a good look if there is flux as I suspect this is the issue.
