Re: My first GBZ (Separable halves, custom Metroid cartridge, no hot glue)[Completed]

I got a set of Kitsch-Bent's colored replacement cartridge's for Game Boy, and I've switched my memory card/PRS-Tech board over to one of their white carts. I got my Tamagotchi cart from Japan (Thanks Rodocop for the tip on these, saw you mention them in a post), and even though it's in pretty decen...

Re: Rodocop's 10th GBZ!

Looks awesome man, I like the SNES theme. That's still nicely organized on the inside, I wouldn't call it messy. I spent a LOT of time on wire management and being neat and tidy on my first build and it's really way more of a pain than it's worth  I'm working on another one for my brother (as ...

Re: My first GBZ (Separable halves, custom Metroid cartridge, no hot glue)[Completed]

The inverted screen is due to fitting problems with pi zero?(I'm waiting for the same screen so I'm worried about this aspect) I don't think I had to invert the screen, but it made things slightly easier/neater by keeping the ribbon connector out of the way, and allowed me to run wires underneath t...

Re: My First GBZ Build (Noob Questions Galore)

Bummer about the screen :| That hole would be a great spot for an led indicator. I went with the 3.5mm barrel jack since I already had a cord for it and for the factory kind of feel, but honestly a micro usb would have been more convenient for charging. There's a decent amount of space along the bot...

Re: Sourcing gbz buttons from multiple sources (for the same build)

I would think it would be fine to use ones from separate vendors. I've bought quite a few buttons from a few different vendors, and I would say as long as you bought buttons meant for the same system (dmg, gbc, nes, snes, etc) they would probably be the same, as they were most likely cast from origi...

Re: My first GBZ (Separable halves, custom Metroid cartridge, no hot glue)[Completed]

Thanks! Yes, basically that same kind of wire, you can buy it in rolls as ribbon cable. I think if I build another GBZ though I'll probably use a thinner gauge wire or use silicone coated wire, as the pvc coated stuff is a bit stiffer. I was able to make the bends in them by peeling the wires apart,...

Re: My First GBZ Build (Noob Questions Galore)

This is the 3.5mm DC jack I used for charging on my recent build https://www.amazon.com/DCFun-1-35mm-Female-Connector-10-Pack/dp/B06XSF27Y1/ref=sr_1_17?ie=UTF8&qid=1519352865&sr=8-17&keywords=3.5mm+dc+jack Speaking of leftover parts I still have 9 left I'd be happy to send you a few if you're still ...

Re: Case with no button holes

Another option (slightly on the harder side, I would bet, but certainly doable) would be to fill in the button area/holes of a GB case with plastic welder or another type of plastic epoxy. Would probably require a bit of sanding/dremeling/customizing and would also necessitate a custom paint job. I'...

Can't wait to see how it turns out, wishing you good luck! I had some success with my recent build using plasticard/sheet styrene to make custom parts
