I bought two of these BW screens from Amazon and both works just fine.
And another one from Aliexpress which is better than the two BW Screens. Consumes less current and works with 5V out of the box.
The 5v mod on all these screens are very easy.

Here is my first Game Boy Zero build. I'm using the GPIO pins for the buttons instead of the teensy which I think is very easy to setup. IMG_1407.JPG IMG_1408.JPG I placed the micro usb charger port just under the audio jack which makes it hardly noticeable. The PWM Audio is built using this guide ....

by default, if you start the pi with a TV on the HDMI, it will connect to that. no HDMI connected it will revert to composite connection. i am not aware of a way to switch it while you are up and running, but a quick reboot to switch it either way isnt too bad Yes i already know this. How do you automatically switch between HDMI and composite resolution
Is there a way to automatically switch to an hdmi resolution when i plug an hdmi tv/monitor and also switch back automatically to a composite resolution (320x240) when hdmi is off or unplugged?

1) Have the pot after the amp output. This will only give mono sound to both headphone jack and speaker. Yep, this is what I did. I'm just wondering how hot does your gameboy zero gets after playing for 30 minutes onward? I get around 63 degree Celsius. Is this normal?

Its better to charge first before playing. Otherwise you need a heatsink and a fan to dissipate the heat.
