Re: Noob needing help.
Which pad exactly. There is usually somewhere else you can solder to but it would involve scraping to reveal some traces. If it was PP1 or PP6 you can also just bypass that by soldering to one the GPIO pins for power or ground, or using a mirco usb plug instead. If it was one of the data pins you'll...

Re: Safe shutdown
I have never corrupted an SD card, but I try not to cut power from the pi abruptly. I have used cambles safe shut down in one build, and it is handy since you can just switch it off and it's good to go (and the battery warnings are handy too). I would not say it is necessary though. In my first buil...

Re: Wiring help
From this thread it looks like pp22 and pp23 on the pi 3 are for the ethernet activity leds. Try a pair in the 40s next to the usb ports. http://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1491 That would definitely solve your problem. Try the other test pads listed. I thought it was odd that the p22 and...

Re: Wiring help
Does anything on the all in one work? Buttons?
For audio make sure to add the proper lines into the config.txt if you haven't (check helders all in one thread)
Also I have found that twisting the data lines helps too. (Pp22 and pp23 wires).

Re: Wiring help
the sound amp doesnt come on the all in one board already? The all in one you have does have an audio amp so that's not the issue. Sorry I can't answer your other questions. I've always used the pi zero. So I'm not sure about solder points etc... on the pi 3. Also, you mentioned that you cannot get...

@Valadone
If you don't want to use a teensy then follow this guide:
http://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=57
I used the same style PCB in my first build and did not use a teensy, I have had no issues with the controls wired directly to the pi's GPIO's.

Re: Power Bank Boost plate!
That's all I've used. Cheap and work good. It would cost way too much to have a power boost shipped from adafruit to Canada, so I got a few of these and have never had issues. No low battery led is fine. And you can add leds but they only show charging, charged, and when there is a load applied. Als...

If no one has one on here check ebay or kitch bent. You can find basic ones for cheap. I've bought 3 from ebay, like these:
