Re: Raspberrys Span Just Got Wider...

Glad they're expanding availability for everyone. I just hope that their expansion of resellers doesn't become a bunch of sites that are always sold out, and reposted for 2-3x retail on eBay, like it seems to be a good bit of the time now.

Re: Pi 3 Gear (WIP)

The little rings of numbers are production dates from the factory. So that particular case was injected in '92 (top ring), in either April or May (can't quite make it out... looks like it's pointing to the 4 though), or almost exactly 25 years ago. :) And yes, I remember desperately wanting a Game ...

Re: Pi 3 Gear (WIP)

Nice progress. And happy 25th birthday to your Game Gear shell. :D Thanks IMCF. I didn't realize that the Game Gear is 25 now... Man, do I feel old now! I was starting high school when they came out. I wanted one so bad, too. So, it looks like everything has shipped out. ETA on the last p...

Re: Pi 3 Gear (WIP)

Small bit of progress today. Had to cut out one of the battery cavities for the transplanted Xbox button wells, and cut the well around the d-pad to fit an analog stick in its place.

Xbox 360 buttons

Hoping someone with experience can help figure this out. I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to set up the ABXY buttons in my PiGear. I've spliced the button holes from a donor 360 controller into the game gear shell (thanks to Moosepr for the inspiring link ). However, in the only picture on tha...

Re: Pi 3 Gear (WIP)

When you get there, let me know if you need any help; model making and painting is kind of my thing :D I'd suggest you sand the original case down a bit and use a primer before using that Krylon; In addition to evening out the surface texture, it'll give you better adhesion and prevent goopiness th...

Re: Pi 3 Gear (WIP)

thanks, do you know if this will wear off with fingers rubbing on it? i need to find a paint solution too! It's very possible that it will eventually wear off, but I will probably use 2-3 layers of high gloss clear coat after the several layers of paint. I say several layers as my rattle can skills...

Re: Pi 3 Gear (WIP)

What do you plan to use to paint the case? I'll be using the old school rattle can technique for paint. I found a great metallic blue. http://www.craftmore.com/krylon-shimmer-metallic-spray-paint-11-5oz-blue/?utm_medium=googleshopping&utm_source=bc&gclid=Cj0KEQjwuZvIBRD-8Z6B2M2Sy68BEiQAtjYS3OF0CHg4...

Pi 3 Gear (WIP)

Hey all, As some of you have seen, I'm slowly working on a game gear pi 3. This is my first real jump into doing anything with electronics, as well as case modding, etc. That said, I thought I'd post the minimal progress thus far, as I'm waiting on slow boat shipping for most of my parts. Parts orde...

Re: Help with planning game gear build

Thank you both so much. Moosepr, I'd highly appreciate that. My GG came in today, but still waiting for my calipers to arrive. Not sure when I'll be able to tinker any more, as I'm a truck driver and am heading back out for a few weeks on Monday. I'm a planner by nature, and I've been trying to plan...
