I don't have a good pic of the chip number, but it looks very similar to the one you have, I would test it with a multi meter to make sure, but it does look like the one I had, good luck.

It looks like you have it wired correctly according to what's in the wiki, have to tried it without bridging it? just have your vcc go directly to the chip, it might work? I would also try the other chips if you have a multi meter, maybe check if you can get 5v from other pins, anyways hope this hel...

Looks good, nice build, I would like to see the speakers holes shaped like the Raspberry Pi logo and it would also look cool if you printed it to look like it has a battery opening, just my thoughts, again very nice build.
