Re: Gameboy 'Athena' (Pi3) build log [WIP].

I got to work trimming down the analogue stick for it to fit in the case, and the spherical plastic on the stick came off very easily. However, the shaft is a bit harder, I assumed it would be made of a soft metal like Aluminium or sprung steel, but it's actual punched steel, so my tin-snips have no...

Re: Help me,build Bmo

cartridge for good looks Ahh ok. In that case I would recommend you get an old gameboy game (nothing too valuable, like Zelda or Pokémon, something bad like old football games) and open it up. Remove the circuit board, and scrape off the old label. You can print your own label with glossy photo pap...

Re: New DPI Screen with 800x480 3.5inch

I don't recommend those screens. Their refresh rate is terrible when using retropie. I have one, and just use it for controlling my otherwise headless NAS. EDIT: Actually this appears to be a different screen to mine. Mine has four chips on the back, and this just has one. It might be better, and th...

Re: Gameboy 'Athena' (Pi3) build log [WIP].

Well, the stain remover worked a treat, all the brown discolouration is gone, and the stick's top part is back to the original grey. https://i.imgur.com/PWXDcJP.jpg @neolith suggested using retrobrite, but I don't have any peroxide or hair cream, but I would recommend it if the staining was really b...

Re: Gameboy 'Athena' (Pi3) build log [WIP].

Well, the stick sat in detergent and bleach, which got rid of the grease and stickiness, but it is still discoloured. https://i.imgur.com/paSysnD.jpg So I've left it in a solution of stain-remover and washing powder, which should hopefully remove the discolouration. https://i.imgur.com/JnEBngQ.jpg

Re: Gameboy 'Athena' (Pi3) build log [WIP].

https://i.imgur.com/ndwvlPQ.jpg Last minute decision to add an analog stick. A friend gave me a broken PS2 controller, so I'm going to add a stick to the GB3. Why one? Because most of the PSone games I have (FF7, Crash, Diablo) only use the dpad, and most other PS games I play only use the one stic...

Re: Help me,build Bmo

Wermy's cartridge slot has an SD card in it, which he uses to boot the RPi0 into Retropie. Do you want the same thing? A cartridge for USB? Or just a cartridge for good looks?

Re: Help me,build Bmo

Unfortunately the Pi3 does not have SD card solder pads like the Pi0 does. Using the adapter or desoldering the original SD card socket is the only way.

Re: Anybody had luck with 18650 or 14500 li ion cells?

You can *Just* about fit a 18650 in it, which is what I'm doing, but you need to do some serious case modding, and you can't use an AIO board.
