That was my plan as well. There aren't any problems with the buttons I received from wermy, just wanted to try something different on the second build. I will be modifying wermys drill template for it too.

You could try cutting the holes bigger and using start/select buttons from a GBColor or Pocket

The continuity test is huge! That cannot be stressed enough. My pi was soldered to the board perfectly in my opinion, but the continuity test proved otherwise. Always do the continuity test!

Yeah, HoolyHoo has designed some glue free brackets for power and mode switch, the screen glass I've used has adhesive tape already, I use E6000 for smaller parts like the speaker, and gorilla brand 2 part epoxy for the screen bracket.

Yes it will be okay like that. The HoolyHoo bracket will push it down and sandwich the board between the two pieces of the shell.
