Record button presses to Pi. Push data to website?

I've been wanting to do a project for a while now, but have no knowledge of this. I've been searching the internet to see if I can find a similar solution, but just can't seem to find anything. Or at least anything I can understand.
Here's what I want to do. I have a pinball machine. The switches in the machine work very similar to how the buttons work on the Gameboy Zero, so I know I can wire a switch up the the Pi. But what I want to do, is for it to record every time a switch is hit (like the coin door, start button, or flippers) and then keep a tally on one of my websites.
Nothing too fancy. But have no idea how to record how many times a switch has been closed, and publish it to the web.
Anyone have any thoughts or know of any examples that could be similar?
