Overclocking a gameboy

Hello friendos. I recently got way into modding regular non gbz gameboys and I'm trying to get an overclock mod working. I following the diagram attached with no luck so far. Has anyone else done anything like this with tips for me? One thing that might not be right here is that both the regular (4.xx) crystal and the double (8) would be connected at the same time when the switch is on. Apparently, when more than one crystal oscillator is connected it follows the fastest one. It also should be noted that in that diagram the 4.xx crystal is connected direcly to the gba as well. Thank you!

Post the link to where you saw this info, I would disconnect one of the pins to the GBA motherboard and solder that middle switch pin to where that pad on the motherboard is. Solder the other crystal leg now left floating to the right pin of the switch.

So when I bought these crystals they came in a pack of 5. I desoldered the original crystal tried directly connecting all of them and none of them worked. Then I freaked and though I broke it and soldered the original back and it works fine. idek.

update: Brand new problem! I got it working perfectly for a while without the switch. played some pokemon. funtimes. then I went for the switch with the following wire layout and either switch position gives me 4mhz. I have no idea why it makes no sense. I've exhausted what I know now. and I should say this is all without the casing on so there is definitley no shorting anywhere and I tested the switch multiple times with my meter and it seems to be a functional switch.

This is solved. In case anyone is interested I needed a dpdt switch so I could totally isolate each crystal while the other was working
