Awesome work! I'm looking to do a waaay more simplistic build (if you could even call it that!) by cobbling together a M5, portable monitor, powerbank and retractable controller. just got out the calipers... that screen will be a tight fit. 155mm is against the dpad and button wells with no room to spare

I measured the stock screen and including the "bracket" it measure 155."something"mm
It's a close fit but should not be too hard to fit in.

Have you considered a compute stick m3 maybe, it is really cheap on ebay without OS and no powersupply. The 6y30 I think is more powerfull for its lower 4.5 TDP then the Celerons.
Are you buying separate displays and control boards because of size restrictions? Or the drawn power is usually less then on these allinone products? Like this one, has HDMI, menu control, sound amp:

First a quick update, ditched the Teensy in favor of an Arduino Micro, done that just for XInput (already tried and it's working like a charm) I would have choose a Teensy LC but those are more expensive in Italy than a Micro without headers O.o
I actually found a M3 stick yesterday for 150 euros with free shipping which is a lot less than the celerons for less power consumption and far more power.
I just bought the same screen that everyone seems to use in for their Raspberry builds. And the board I bought include also speakers out and the amp. I hope I can get the M3 around that price, but I don't know if the TDP can be changed for these compute sticks in the BIOS or via Intels XTU.
For advanced gaming 7W TDP is needed and you can push it more. My GPD win2 with m3-7y30 had the sweetspot at 9W TDP and I could undervolt my CPU+GPU -60mV, the m3-6y30 is a very similar chipset it has slight less GHz's:

My only problem is that the stick is rated for 5.2V@2.2A would 5V be enough?
The converter I bought is rated for 5V@5A.
What can I use to output 5.2V?
Lcd arrived today it fit perfectly! Only had to cut the lateral plastic.

5V will be enough but measure it, best would be to hook it up to an oscilloscope and monitor if the 5V is stable without any voltage spikes, I have read that people connected they m3/m5 stick to a common 5V 2A powerbank and it killed the compute stick...
Oh and in addition to my TDP tipp, this only makes sense if the stick does not get hot, which means you will need a better heatsink /+ fan, but that will be hard in a Wii U contorllers shell (I'm planning to build my own shell actually, I'm just here to collect info as there are not many forums dealing with compute stick builds, not active that is).
