Mini Arcade Machine Build

Post by joshendy » Sun May 17, 2020 5:28 am

Hi all, very inspired by all the projects on here! Thought I'd post one of mine. I started by buying a 10.1" LCD screen from aliexpress and designing a mini arcade machine around it. I made the arcade machine from 6mm plywood which I cut on my CNC router into all the various frame pieces:

A bunch of PVC glue and masking tape later and the frame was glued together:

Next up I wired in the 8 arcade buttons and the joystick, these all have limit switches in them so they were pretty easy to wire up to the GPIO on the Raspberry Pi. One-by-one I bolted in the LCD, the 12V power supply, Raspberry Pi, speakers and fairly messily threw wires between everything.

It's a blast to play on. Every time I have friends and family over they bug me to have a play on it. I'm still planning to give it a better paint job or even add some cool vinyl. I've got a more detailed build log on my blog if anyone's interested.
