Mame/N64 ROM Compatibility

Hi everyone. I'm about to undertake my first build of one of these and am interested to know how well the pi zero can run early 90s arcade games like golden axe, street fighter 2, Toki etc? Am I expecting to much for these to run? I wanted to fit a pi 3 but it sounds like it will run too hot. It doesn't sound like pi 2 will give me a significant increase in performance for the cost/space/power consumption trade off. I've seen a small list of compatible N64 ROMs in the forum, but am curious to hear if anyone has tried goldeneye?

Thanks.

Forget about running N64 games. They are even laggy on a rPi3.
Sadly no Goldeneye and MarioKart64 yet. Gotta be patient for a new rPi zero generation ;-]

Thanks for the information, you have helped me decide to go with the pi zero. Now I just need to decide if I should shell out the extra money for a 640x480 display or not....

MAME compatibility seems great for me. Haven't gotten Neogeo working but it's because the bios file placement is damn confusing

Why not give Final Burn Alpha a try?

It works fine on the Pi Zero.
