Ok... So i bougt a linux compatible wifi dongle. It was listed as a Retropie compatible dongle
The retropie recognizes it (i checked with lusb)
I can see my wifi networks
But when i set it up using the retropie menu, i keep getting "unable to connect to network"
i have tested the dongle using my laptop... and it works
Any tips?

Sounds like maybe you haven't selected the correct encryption setting. Assuming you have typed in the network name and password correctly of course, as they're case sensitive.

Don't know what encrytion type your router uses but there's a guide here showing how to set it up:

This also depends on how new/old your wifi device is. I have seen some not compatible with WPA2.

the dongle is brand new, and it works with wpa2, because i have tested it first on my computer.
wifi router is also brand new (couple of weeks old, and not som low end thing)

Guys for some reason and I started having the same problem. Although, I have a decent router and I use a pretty good proxy (advanced.name if matters) that could badly affect the router. Maybe the problem is in network settings?

Try to alter the usb current by switching from 2.0 to 1.1 this will probably work i guarantee you guys. (add to config.txt: max_usb_current=1
But from the other side, your keyboard meight no longer work on usb 1.1 instead of 2.0 (if using Helder aio 2.2)
I had trouble using usb romservice on usb 2.0 worked fine on 1.1 but had to give up keyboard omg.
So this can be a pita because you can't do stuff in file manager with the keyboard, but at the other hand you can do it over wifi... kinda chicken and the egg story. anyway it's worth a try. so let me know if it worked for you. and i make a note in my bugs book.
P.s i think the wifi receiving works but transmit troubles on 2.0 (RX-TX) this is why you see it, but can't get proper connection.
