Hi,
Can you please be a little bit more specific ?
From what i understand you say it's coming out of the right channel, wich indicates that you already have audio ? correct me if i'm wrong..
Anyway, after you have audio out of one or two of the channels on the pi zero gpio, you'll need a little amplifier to get some real sound out of it.
If i can assist you, let me know and i'll take a look,
You can go to your config.txt file on your Retropie sd card and add this below the other rules. ( WITHOUT the '' '' )
For Stereo sound from GPIO pins 18 and 13: add
'' dtoverlay=pwm-2chan,pin=18,func=2,pin2=13,func2=4 ''
---------------------------------------------------
For Mono sound from GPIO pin 18 only : add
'' dtoverlay=pwm,pin=18,func=2 ''
---------------------------------------------------
Making the audio clearer : add
'' disable_audio_dither=1 ''
---------------------------------------------------
Add them on the bottom right under the other rules, (in the same fashion) A # before the rule is not needed.

If you start the game, press a key, and try the other emulator. i thought there are 2 emulators to choose from, try one another.
If it doesn't help, you need another sonic rom file. and be sure not to confuse 16 bit and 8 bit sega.
