I think I've already mentioned this idea before in a long lost post, but if they eventually support USB flash drive booting on the pi0, what might be a cool implementation is if you mapped the cartridge port to a single USB port. Then you could plug n play different USB sticks inside various cartridges to be able to boot different configurations or organize different roms on different cartridges. And if the sd card continues to boot on failover (a lack of a USB boot drive), then you could even put wifi and Bluetooth dongles inside cartridges to activate different optional hardware. And you should be able to hot swap them just like regular usb. Might be cool!

Just did some mild digging on Raspberry Pi's github, and it looks like the logic from my postulated boot sequence is correct! So, if/when support for USB booting is added to the PI0, we could potentially implement USB plug n play via cartridges. Thumb Drive, Networking Devices, Soundcards, anything. Cool!
