Headless Setup - No keyboard required to get up and running with Retropi

Post by oliddell » Fri Jun 23, 2017 10:26 am

Hi Guys, just sharing how to install and configure retropi without a usb keyboard attached to the gbz....No more ugly USB port.

Download and copy retropi to MicroSD card as usual.
using a computer
create a file:
"wpa_supplicant.conf"

open this file with text editor and add:

country=us
update_config=1
ctrl_interface=/var/run/wpa_supplicant

network={
scan_ssid=1
ssid="Your WIFI SSID NAME HERE"
psk="Your WIFI PASSWORD HERE!"
}

Amend SSID and PSK to match your wifi network settings
Then save and exit

next create a file called:
"SSH"
With this file It is important to remove the extension and leave it without an extension.

Copy these two files to your micro sd card in the boot partition just place them there in root.

Thats it...

You can now run:

sudo ~/RetroPie-Setup/retropie_setup.sh

when ready there you can also

sudo raspi-config

To configure all settings as required
