Just wanted to throw this out there, I didn't want to pay 20$ for the hdmi USB power adapter and got a 5$ one. It works fine.

Were you able to pry it open?

I used a xacto knife and cut the one side so it came apart. It has a plastic casing inside which I removed part of. I then put the rubber piece i cut in half back over it and put a piece of electrical tape over it.

I bought this one as well. Do you a picture on how you added the diode or is it similar to the original?

I don't have a photo but it's exactly like the other one

Yeah I think it’s basically the same as the instructions tell you. The last pin to the positive wire... I’d use a voltmeter and check though, I don’t remember how exactly I wired mine. I don’t wanna be responsible for frying your tv somehow.

Ok I just opened mine up and the way I illustrated was correct. It’s hard to see because the power wires are in the way and I put glue over it to keep it in place but It’s the same as I described in the previous photo

Hi guys,

I have been trying to findone of those hdmi USB power adapters, but have been unsuccessful until now. It is either Amazon who doesn't deliver at my address or Ebay that cancels (happened twice, bot refunded fortunately because you buy it at 30-40euros range). I live in Austria, Europe, is there someone to help me out?

Cheers.

I have been trying to findone of those hdmi USB power adapters,
I've ordered mine from ebay here:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/263235932212

I'm also wiring the connections directly so I don't need to order OPs $15 board.

I have two questions:
1. Does anyone from europe (ideally germany) have an alternative list of suppliers for the parts?
and 2. a question @prerunnerseth :how long does the delivery to germany approximately take?
I'm planing on giving it a away as a gift and of course I'm way behind schedule. :)
I guess it's too late, but in case someone else from Germany might have the same question, here's what I got ... I also have a question for those of you who already built the SNES Zero. I just got my PCB board today. However, I don't know how to solder it to my Pi. As you can see in the attached image, I got a Pi with presoldered header because I thought that would make it easier. I'm quite new to soldering, so I don't know how to connect the pins to the flat surface of the PCB board. Any hints/pictures that might help me?

EDIT: Never mind, I just realized that I totally misunderstood how this worked. I thought the SNES Zero PCB was through-hole because I couldn't really tell from the pictures. So I guess I'll have to desolder the header and get an SMD one. What a waste of money (and time)... :?

In fact this was wrong. I just did one with the same unit. The red wire is soldered onto a pad which accesses the power pin, so if you simply add the diode, it does nothing (as the power can already go through the pad). If you want to use the diode (you don't need to) - you need to remove the red wire from the pad, then put the diode between the pad and the wire.
