Retr0bright solution for clear plastic on old console

Before, sorry for my english, i'm french and like a lot of french gays... I'm not good english student ^^.

For people doesn't know retrObright solution, you can find a lot of tutorial and topic on Internet or in the "official website" here. The idea of this topic is not to give you the best tutorial but, because the solution is not new, and products legislation evolve, i give you my return of experience with this solution.

The Objectif :
Retrieve the original color of plastic. With the time, lot of old plastic become yelllow. (Blame of the no fire treatment of plastic if I understood).

My steps :
- I buy a gameboy dmg in In poor condition. It was very dirty and yellow plastic.
- For clean it, i started to disassemble it and clean plastic with household white vinegar. And put it on my dishwasher in fast program.
- Because she is verry yellow in the frond, i decided to try the retr0bright solution...

What i use :
- Hydrogen Peroxide (Oxy wather) min 40vol, 130vol is better ! (10 to 35% strength)
In France and other contry, it's now realy hard to find oxy wather at more than 30vol... I find mine in a old stock of hardware store in 40vol (14% streight).... On Pharmacy, only 30vol is available at 8% strength max... :s).
- Vanish OxiAction Crystal Blanc. You can find it in your favorite market place.
- A natural thickener for baby. You can use for exemple Gallia Gumilk, Gallia Diase or Blédina Blédine natural. You can find it on Pharmacy.
- A brush
- glass container
- aluminum foil
- Plastic gloves and lot of precautions ! we use Hydrogen Peroxide and this product is abrasive for your skin !
- A lot of sun and a bit of patience :).

My experience :
I make my mix of retrObright with :
- 20cl of Hydrogen Peroxide
- A pinch of Vanish (realy, use a little of it. it makes a lot of foam otherwise)
- 2 spoon of thickener for baby. Use only one and mix it... If you solution is not consistent, add more of it. But for me, i add directly 3 spoon and my solution is liffle bit lot hard... I had to add some Hydrogen Peroxide

When my mix is ready, i use a brush and put it on the front of my gameboy... Spread of homogeneous way.
With the sun i have on this week-end, i ironed the product every 30 minutes to an hour... After 2 hours in the sun, the result is already her... I decide to live it 5 hours in the sun for beter result. After that, you need to watch it on wather for remove all the retr0bright mix.

Album pictures :
I take pictures for you to see the differents steps of my retr0bright experience.
I can't embeded it but you can find it here

Conclusion :

I'm really satisfied with the result. My front side is now more gray than my back. I know that this solution is not permanent ... And I should probably switch back from time to time retr0bright. But at the time, I'm glad I tried this solution. :).

Hope that can help some users. :)

I really do not want to talk this down, but it is a lot easier to get developer creme (12%/40vol.) at your local barber shop.
Only 1 ingredient and it is pretty cheap.

Yes i see this alternative but not lot of return about it... And i try to find that in my city and it's not realy easy to find it (only on specialist local barber and realy not cheap for what i see...).
Hydrogen Peroxide : 9€
Vanish : Already have it, but it's 7€
thickener for baby : 2€50

Yeah, I used this. 4 hours in the sun. 1 ingredient. Doesn't make sense to make that retr0bright when this works just as well.

Just a quick note that apparently you can just use only hydrogen peroxide for whitening plastics:
