Getting 3.5 screen working with retropie

Post by 6PATHS » Fri May 05, 2017 3:33 pm

I have an Smraza 3.5 in TFT touchscreen, it came with software but its for raspian. It works with raspian if I use the image that comes with the screen but I would like to use this screen with the retropie image from the website. The image is installed correctly. I can play a game in retropie over HDMI but if I try with the 3.5 in screen it only displays a white screen. Does anyone know how to set this up?
Its an XPT2046 touch controller, 480x320 pixel.
I dont care if the touchscreen doesnt work, i just want the screen to display

Also, the screen plugs in directly via GPIO, if possible, i would like to desolder the header from the board and solder in wires to run to the pi. If anyone knows, do I need to use all 26 pins or are there a few I can use that will still get the screen to display?

Whoever gives me a working solution can name my next child ;)

Basically, the 3.5 inch screens that use the GPIO are laggy at best with RetroPie. It can be done, but you will have to play with the setting to get it to work half decent.

Start here: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/295 ... eshare-32b

The code for the 3.5 inch screen is at the bottom of the page.
