Mini HDMI(type c) to HDMI(type a), how to connect?

Post by tinkerBOY » Wed Aug 09, 2017 4:37 am

Im building a mini hdmi male to hdmi male wiring for my pi zero using a hdmi screen. I'm just wondering how do you solder/connect the two? Is there any diagram? Both have 19 pins. There are conflicting pinouts when i google so I'd just ask here if anyone has already done it. Im assuming both have the same pinouts so connecting is straightforward forward? Im not sure.

Thanks!

i think the pinouts are the same, what pinouts are conflicting....

why would you want to build your own cable, that just seem like too much work and is really fiddly to do (small and really close up solder pads)

just buy a pre-made cable....

either like this....

or like this as another member has used...

but you'll have to remove the casing, so it looks like this...

any of these cables willl work for you (just some mods to the rear case will have to be done)....

the first you can use in place of the adapter provided with the screen...

and the second will be used with the adapter provided with the screen...

Pre made cable would be: C1 (Raspberry Zero) -> 5cm Ribbon -> A2 (Display) ?

hello, same question here.

I'm trying to build a mini hdmi male to hdmi male but it's not working. i previously built a hdmi male to hdmi male and it worked perfectly.

Are you sure the pinouts are the same for mini HDMI ? Is there any diagram ? :?:

Can anyone point me in the direction of this item? The ali link is dead.
Or even a picture of what it looks like before the casing was removed

it is a HDMI A female....

here the link....
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Handy-3 ... 59e6464953

but if your looking to use it with a Kedei screen in a DMG build (or even another type)

you could consider making your own custom cable....

if you have a couple of these (HDMI A male & HDMI C male)

Image

and wire them up like this....

Image

this way doesnt require all the connection (only 13), and i just used kaynar wire to make the connctions...

this is how one of mine came out (you can make the length according to your needs)

used in a DMG build with a Kedei screen
