I don't believe anyone has made one of these and sold them yet. The community for the original gameboy zero is still relatively new, and I think once people get bored making DMG gameboys the community will start branching out into other models.

I would be very interested in a custom AIO pcb for the Gameboy SP! Something like Kite's AIO board but for the GB-SP would be so cool.

The SP is a tricky one as it's so small already. I have a feeling a few people are either working on one or will be soon.
I'd give it a go but I already have too much on my plate that's not getting done to add another project... however I do have a spare SP case that just got sent to me.... ;)

Pi zero w and tft in the top, Bluetooth controller in the bottom, bingo! :D

Now that the Pi Zero W has built-in Bluetooth and Wifi that probably helps in terms of saving space for a Gameboy SP build. I think there would be space for a Pi Zero + Controller PCB in the bottom and screen in the top. I would think the next most tricky part after that would probably be getting the cable from the screen to board through the hinge.

This is an interesting example. Something similar to this project except that it would fit inside a Gameboy SP case.

that's a cool looking project and isn't far off what @moosepr has done with his minimalist GBZ and as he said the biggest hurdle would be dealing with the hinge

well in theory, if the screen is the same size as the GBA, its a 2.9" screen. You could maybe get away with using my PiCB project http://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2441, which will get the pi and the screen in the lid (assuming the thickness of screen/pcb/pi will fit).

you could then gut a BT controller (if your using a zero W) and place that in the base of the SP, filling the rest of that space with a power switch and a big ol battery. Then the only wires needed to run up the hinge will be power ones!!!

you could do it without the bluetooth, but then you will need to run the power (2 cables), and the button cables (10 buttons, can use the gnd from the power cable) which means 12 cables in the hinge

The other way, would be to have the pi, buttons, battery in the base, and have just the screen in the top, using something like this https://oshpark.com/shared_projects/BP9tGKag and a naked screen, this then only means there are 8 cables in the hinge

the SP is the same size as an AGB as a very common mod is to take an AGS-101 (backlit) screen and mod it into a AGB-001 to make the ultimate original shape GBA. it's more or less a straight fit with some slight internal frame removal and an adapter cable.
