640x480 Size Question

Post by BenOfTheNorth » Mon Nov 14, 2016 3:45 am

Hey guys,

I'm looking at trying to use one of the 640x480 screens like this one (https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/ ... 0.0.aNU72C) in my project, but I'm a little concerned about the placement of the screen. I understand it'll just fir in the case with some jiggery pokery, but I'm wondering about the fact that the screen isn't centred on the body... would it still look alright in the case does anyone know? I'm guessing some underscan/positioning might help?

Ta!

That would be tough to know for sure until trying it. Most older games did not put things too close to the edge of screens becuase of the nature of CRTs. That board looks pretty big too, might run out of real estate. There was a thread that was trying to compile different screens that would work, might check there. It would be awesome if it works.

It looks fine. Overscan is still what you would use to adjust but you'd barely need to.
