LCD in Australia

Post by JoshL » Mon Nov 28, 2016 1:40 am

I bought an LCD from ebay (from china) and it arrived today but the controller board is too wide to fit in the gameboy case.

I looked at the wiki and all of the screens on there don't ship to Australia.

Any other Aussies had this problem?

The one I originally bought looked like the left on in this photo:

Have since ordered another off eBay that looks slightly different, so hopefully it will work.

If not, I will have to buy something like this I guess: http://core-electronics.com.au/raspberr ... gonal.html

Ebay sellers are notorious for using incorrect images or images of not the exact product. I guess you can contact them and ask them to confirm if it was exactly the same as the pictures. I orderd one that had the back buttons on the opposite side to the photos in the add. Heres the link http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/191742290250

I have since orderd this one, postage time is slow like all chinese stuff but it looks to be the same as the gearbest screen i believe. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/191937376024

The second one I ordered had no buttons on the back, so hopefully it has a small board.

The second one you posted looks perfect Rewired44. Didn't find that in my searching. Ill grab one of them if my second one doesn't work either.

There are loads of Generic chinese LCDs on ebay, (fellow Australian here) but the ones that look like this: http://www.sainsmart.com/sainsmart-3-5- ... l-b-b.html are pretty competent clones of the WaveShare screens.

I just got one of these delivered
http://aud.dx.com/product/et-350-3-5-tf ... -961039044

Ordered on the 28th, arrived on the 7th.

Pretty sure it has the same board as Variant 7 on the wiki, but I didnt have a chance to go over it properly yet. Probably over the weekend.

This seems like a pretty good option if it is indeed a v7 with seperate board for buttons, decent price aswell. Keep us posted!

Hey mate I'm from Straya as well. Welcome. Yes my first LCD was also the backup monitor. I got mine from Aliexpress.

I opened it and was so annoyed to receive basically what you had but even worse. Mine had extra components so I could not cut mine off. In other words don't waste your time and buy 2 from Gear best. Apparently the most success so far is with that one. I am buying 2 but be aware it takes about 3-4 weeks...

Good luck!

Minor correction, the screen i got from DX above is a V8 and is working fine :)

Helped me discover my 5v powerpack is only spitting out 4.8v which isn't enough for the screen to function.
I'll post a pic tomorrow.
