Found this one today.
Looks like the one from the OP, but with micro USB and no clone.
But you can NOT charge while draining power. Still, a very cheap solution.

Here are other links to it.

I'm using the circuit from a powerbank battery just like this one: http://www.tokrii.com/image/catalog/cat ... r-bank.jpg

The output is 1a and I doubt I can play and charge at the same time but that's not an issue for me, these are incredibly cheap anywhere and the battery can fit inside making a few adjustments to the case.

Someone mentioned this one on another build: https://www.amazon.com/SMAKN%C2%AE-Lith ... ge_o04_s00 it has a display for battery % and status, found it pretty neat, I might replace my powerbank circuit with that or just keep it in mind for my next project, board is around 3 times as long as a powerboost so it might not be too wise to shove it in there if you're already tight

It would still need to be able to simultaneously charge and play. I know it doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but what is realistically lost using this compared to the PB1000c?

Edit: I forgot the actual link to the product. Dur!
I ordered this one, it is cheaper but it has 2 out pins instead of 4. Not sure the significance of that tbh but might be an alternative to consider on your next build.

I also ordered one more like yours with 4 outs (with micro usb instead of full-sized)
I will compare them and post my results! It's not only cheaper but shipping is free. Yours would have been like $12 after shipping to Texas.

This looks like it will have a similar problems to the others, it won't charge and play at the same time. My biggest complaint though is it does not allow for a graceful shutdown, and that is a must for me so I went with the PB1000C

Those seem to be one function each, a step up and a charger, so they are basically 2 boards to fulfill the function of one

I ordered http://www.ebay.com/itm/130725341903 from eBay. I saw it being used by http://www.xodustech.com/projects/raspb ... boy-pocket
My only issue is the power switch, I don't get how that needs to be set up.

Hi there!

Why not have a look at the WIKI? http://sudomod.com/wiki/index.php?title ... wer_Supply
There you will find an alternative.
So, why not get this sexy thing? http://aliexpress.com/item/Mobile-power ... 34966.html
Charger + Booster + Charge while Gaming + Connect "graceful shutdown" instead of LED 3 (red) possible.
More wishes?
