Re: TintyPi Custom Build [WIP]
just a couple of updates to the build (nearly complete)
because ive got one of Helder prototype PCB, i didnt buy the kit so i'm on the semi-DIY build route....
but the 3d printed parts Wermy designed are only compatible with 2.2" screen or one of Helder 2.4" screen (which comes with the kit)
I could have just put a 2.2" in the build, but everyones rocking the 2.4" and it would have just hurt not having one myself...
so not to be left out, I built my own 2.4" that would fit (a transplant was in order)....
and the results are very pleasing....
not bad for a first attempt

Re: TintyPi Custom Build [WIP]
i also had the 3d printed parts printed locally...
this was done in ABS, and not the special stuff that Wermy used....
they came out ok, but not sure if it was the printing method or the ABS but there were some imperfection....
from the get go i was intending to apply some water slide decals (for START and SELECT)...
so because of the slight imperfection in the prints, i'm finishing the 3d parts (just the faceplate and bezal) with spray paint... it will also hopefully help against any frosting with the decals...
sanded....
primed....
painted...
its not 100%, but alot better than before... could sand and apply another coat (not decided yet) .....
plus the water slide decals should be fine (next on the list)....
to be cont...

Re: TintyPi Custom Build [WIP]
Would have filled the uneven surface first with some putty, and after that sand prime & paint ...
The Retropie sticker on the Altoids case looks funny

Re: TintyPi Custom Build [WIP]
putty seemed too excessive (and maybe too much work), but i should have bought filler primer instead of normal primer (you live and learn)....
its not a sticker on a altoids case..... its a sticker on a blank tin hence TintyPi and not MintyPi (no mints here)....

Re: TintyPi Custom Build [WIP]
Ah okay, nice looking tin anyway.
Well, i always use putty on roughly 3d printed parts, i just use a very thin layer to fill in the uneven surface, and swipe it on there with a japanese putty knife, or creditcard, it's about 5 minutes work to smooth, (including hardening) many times doesn't even need sanding.
Greets

Re: TintyPi [WIP]
starting to apply the water slide decals now....
i'm pretty happy with the way this came out.....
i might just finish with a couple of coats of clear coat, just to seal everything in (gonna wait just to see if any frosting appears before i do)
