If space is what you need, i have used this usb hub in my gbz build it is REALLY (12x12mm) tiny.
Available in 2 and 3 ports and works very well with the zero (use otg mode).
I have not found a usb device that didn't work on this little wonder....

i actually consider those hubs that are on tindie....

but IMHO, the USB splitter is a way better option, mainly because of the cost.....
(you can buy 5 USB splitters for the price of 1 two port tindie hub, and the sizes difference isnt that big... both are small)

You're right the price is quite high compared to the ebay/ali hubs.
I went that way but found out the hard way that cheap also has its price (traces coming loose, cutting of excess board, and then finding out the hub does not work as expected, waiting for ages for items to arrive....)
I am not saying that you should not try to save a buck (hey I'm dutch, we've invented being stingy), but look at the stuff wermy/helder/hollyhoo produces those items are not cheap either, but you know you get the good stuff...

And have i mentioned this thing is really tiny ;) (i am in not in any way related to the manufacturer (who is dutch) btw  )

It's not a price problem but shipping time issues!
However the strange thing now is that the splitter works fine if connected to raspberry by an 4 port usb hub!
So Raspberry>4 port usb hub>2 way mini splitter hub>soundcard+keyboard works!
But Raspberry>2 way mini splitter hub>soundcard+keyboard don't works!(Usb key working instead)
I can not understand why!

(IHMO) the hub on tindie isnt a bad hub.... but for the price its not worth it ($10+$2 shipping)
especially compare to this splitter, which is only slightly larger (and might be a little easier to work with than the tindie hub)....
(considering that Joao used it in his MintyPi with PSP joystick build)

its not a case of being stingy, its knowing how to spend well and what is a good deal (some people just cant do or see that.... )
most of the time peoples bad solder jobs are blamed on the tools and the boards, when in reality its normally user error....

IMHO, everything is good.... if you know how to use it properly

and if you dont mind paying over the odds, then the tindie hub is great (it is a decent hub, and one that i have considered in the past)

just MHO......

Not here to start a discussion about how to spend money, to solder or good or bad hubs. Just wanted to share what's available.

Last question about that cheap 2 way usb splitter...
have you tried if the keyboard works with it?
I figured that mine is recognized by raspberry as "Genesys Logic, Inc. USB 2.0 Hub / D-Link DUB-H4 USB 2.0 HUB" and it works with usb keys but keyboards and gamepads not works.

the 2 way splitter, works perfectly (for me).....
you most probably have a dud, it can happen even with a really expensive product....
(out of the several i've used, i have had one not work properly, thats the way it goes sometimes)

(there might also be a power issue, maybe you're not supplying enough power to everything you have hooked up to the hub)

i have a usb sound card and the keyboard connected, and it works flawlessly......

if your too stressed about the "cheap" 2 way splitter, and dont want to buy another one.....
get the tindie hub.....
