This modified mintypi project was inspired by someone on the forum whom read about my difficulties with getting a properly cut and good feeling shoulder buttons on my mintypi and suggested using GB start and select silicons instead. I expanded the shoulder holes, then put some cut down nes controller start/select buttons in. This was wobbly feeling, so I had a friend 3D print some supports to put inside the case between the tin and the button to stabilize it. Feels pretty good in the hand.

MintyPi: Wide Shoulder Button Edition
Re: MintyPi: Wide Shoulder Button Edition
Looks really good!
I think it feels nicer too, am I right?
How did you cut down the buttons? Do you maybe have progress pictures? (For instance the line-up with the PCB?)
And did you maybe change the drill guide? Or just did it by hand?
PS: Sorry for so many questions...

Re: MintyPi: Wide Shoulder Button Edition
I didnt make any progress pics. I just kinda stumbled my way through. The start and select were one piece of silicon so i cut them into individual buttons. They were longer tham i liked so I cut them shorter. Feels pretty good, but someone better than me could have gotten them prefect. I dont have the skills too. If optmized that 3D printed piece would have made the buttons feel like greased lightening. Mine doesnt, decent but not amazing. I expanded the holes with file and dremel.MintyJam wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2019 12:17 amLooks really good!
