MintyPi Lite with Laser-Cut/Etched, Vintage Altoids Tin

Post by infinitLoop » Fri May 01, 2020 9:57 pm

Hey everyone,

I just got my tin from Helder, and could finish putting my Lite together, so I thought I'd show it off real quick.

The original power switch got some glue in it when I put it in the shell, and I managed to scuff it up a little in the corner when i was trying to figure out what was wrong there, which sucks. :( Also ended up mangling the switch some, so I just replaced it with a smaller switch I had on-hand, but it still works great. At some point, I think I'd like to try and get a headphone jack in there, just because I do like it if I take it in some public place (which it's perfect for, just popping into your pocket and going). It's still just as play-able as the v3, which is great! :) :geek:

I tweaked the last MintyPi image enough to be able to test that pretty much everything is working (i haven't set up the safe shutdown script or set up the button near the screen, but everything else is working).

The screen is definitely noticably worse than the v3, but still plenty playable. Might be worth it (if possible) to add a "premium" screen update, for those that wanted to spend extra to get that crisp display. All-in-all though, I still love it. :D

Looking good, I'm hoping there is a run of the Cinnamon tins.

Unlikely.

I have a cinnamon tin (uncut) that I'm selling since I don't need it and you can swap the lid if you already have a precut tin.
Edit: never mind. I thought I had a cinnamon tin but I only have a liquorice, ginger, peppermint and 2 wintergreen's.

I've got 3 uncut Cinnamon tins and a host of others to practice on. I did the cutting and filing for my v2 Minty Pi so I'm familar with the process but if there was going to be a run of them I'd happily wait. Since there won't be I'll do a practice run then give it a shot at some point here soon.

Thanks though!

Oh nice. I originally wanted a liquorice tin so I got a cheap (ish) bundle with a few other tins so was going to resell the ginger tin and throw in the extras for free. I misread the post lol.
