I also found a supplier for DS Lite buttons and conductive pads. I've got a batch of black and white on the way (the only colors they had), so I'll have those available for folks as well.
just one thing to mention, i order two sets from a seller that only had black and white (1 x black & 1 x white)....

the black set i received had an issue with the printed buttons being faded or a different white to the others (not really a major issue, just would have bugged me)
luckily the seller is sending out another set....

if your ordering a batch of them, it might be something to mention to them or to expect

may not be that obvious in the pics, but the B and X are slightly washed out (most probably will fade of alot quicker than A and Y)
its more blatant in your hand...

they are cheap china replicas... so in a way you get what you pay for

uhm, a quick question that is buzzing in my mind for a while now.. will the sd card be accessible without removing the 3d printed parts?
like cutting a hole on the right side of the altoids tin?
what about using a micro nano usb? will it also work instead of a micro sd card?

Unless you plan to use a usb hub then no other usb device can be used since the only usb port on the Pi Zero is being occupied by the usb sound card.

Listen this is a very basic build with very few components so it fits in the tin as well as not use alot of power, once you start adding in usb hubs or other devices the battery will drain alot quicker and there isn't alot of space for large batteries inside either. Once people start to build their own maybe they will find larger batteries suitable for this project to have extra power for other devices but space is always a factor.

If you use a raspberrypi with wifi you can edit files over a network connection witch means you would have to access the SD card as often. You would all have to remove it to format and set up the os.

SD card will be inaccessible, unfortunately. As Helder said this is sort of a simple build by necessity. Not much space in there. :) That's why the Pi 0 W is so nice: we can use the wifi to reconfigure stuff, transfer roms/saves, etc.

It's okay, I was just curious :) thank you for the answers
because I make a backup of the image on the sd card quite often.. I run into corruption issues, but maybe it's because my hardware is not properly done so I have to remove the power brutally from the PI to turn it off.. sorry for the off-topic :)
Cheers! :D

Nice, thanks for sharing. Doesn't look like they ship to the US, but nice for people in the UK, though!

I had the same exact issue with the buttons I got from Aliexpress. Some were badly misaligned on the button and others were really faded (which wouldn't be that bad if they were all the same but each is slightly different). Pretty annoying, but not many other options if you don't want to buy the entire shell.

Wonder if it'd be easy to remove the printed letters all together without screwing up the button feel...

Hmm, this is a really interesting idea actually. One thing I've been messing with while waiting on parts and stuff is tweaking/trying to perfect the tolerances in the button wells. If you have them tight, which you sort of need if you want the letters to stay upright, then the edges of the buttons (on the inside) can catch on the sides of the button wells if you don't press them straight down. If that makes sense. It's not a huge deal but it can be annoying for it to catch periodically if you're mashing the buttons. If you were to remove the letters from the buttons (which only apply if you're playing SNES anyway...) then you could widen the button wells and this issue goes away completely.

So the big question is: would people care if they didn't have letters on their buttons?
