i'm interested in the 2.2 setup.... hopefully got a few screens coming
The one linked by Wermy on ebay says they should have stock in a week for the 2.2" screens since I ordered one way before this posting of parts I should get mine in a few weeks. I'm not sure if they will have an abundance to keep selling but thing might be looking up for this crucial part. I am still looking into the 2.4" screens and they are on route to me for some testing and some kind of board design.

I'll send you one of these addon boards once I get them, unfortunately I don't have any ribbons for them but I can provide you a link to order a few after.
thanks

thats cool, i'll ordered the ribbons myself

besides, it looks like my screens are gonna take a couple of weeks to get to me (at least)....
Ribbon dimensions you need are as follows:

The ribbon needs to be 9pin 1mm pitch and between 70mm to 90mm in length.

Same side will work but reverse side will be more ideal for this if you can find it.

For anyone who was wondering: the Adafruit blank tin you can buy (https://www.adafruit.com/product/97) really is an exact match of the Altoids tins in both size and shape. :)

80mm is the best bet for a little slack and just the right length.

Added a quick update to the first post, and put up a blog post: http://www.sudomod.com/mintypi-2-0-scre ... -bad-news/

Ordered a 2.2" screen already. Now there's news about using a 2.4"?

It's okay. It should be sufficient for me anyway.

Do you think that we could use some sort of heat-shrink tubing for the screen wires?
Well I ordered 15 of the addon boards for the 2.2 screen alongside the button pcb so since there is no use now for them I can offer them to people. If wermy releases the STL with the cut out for it then it'll be useful for people who got the 2.2 screen.
Also interested.

What exactly do you mean by ribbon cable?

What specific part will you use for the on/off switch? Mini SPDT slide switch?

Yes exactly. Any tiny switch will do, all it does it put the enable pin on the powerboost to ground.

The 3d-printed part gives you about 11.5mm x 6.5mm to work with. If the switch you get is wider than that, I made it so those two posts that hold the switch in place are easy enough to break off cleanly with some pliers. Not a whole lot I can do about the depth though - so there's about 6.5mm to work with. :)
